Events and outings
At West London Welcome, our events and trips bring joy, discovery, and a sense of belonging to our community—opening doors to experiences that are often out of reach for people seeking asylum, refugees and migrants.
Organised by our amazing Community Outreach and Operations staff and volunteers, and made possible through donated tickets, these outings range from beach days and picnics in the park to visits to iconic London institutions like the Royal Albert Hall, the Natural History Museum, the V&A, and the London Eye. We’ve attended theatre performances at Shepherd’s Bush Theatre, watched the Swan Lake ballet, explored the Arabic Film Festival, joined LGBTQ+ history tours, and laughed together at comedy nights.
These cultural and recreational experiences offer far more than a day out. They provide a vital sense of inclusion, connection to the city, and a chance to build friendships through shared joy. For many of our members, these trips are a first opportunity to experience London’s rich cultural life, and the impact is clear—69% have engaged more with arts and culture since joining West London Welcome. In a time of uncertainty and instability, these moments of wonder, laughter, and community are deeply meaningful.
